Welcome to my wine and drinks pages. My name is Agi Erdos and I am, for the purposes of this website, a wine writer. In real life I’m a freelance editor and translator.
This blog is mainly about wine. I write about tastings I’ve been to and about wineries I’ve worked at or visited. And about wines and other drinks I come across. I will also write a lot about kosher and Israeli wines, as this is my special field. I might also bore you with articles or news that I’ve read that I found interesting.
I grew up in Hungary and currently live in London, which is the best place in the world for tasting and studying wine. Not because the English are so good at making it, but they’re very good at trading it!
I am a Diploma graduate of the Wine and Spirit Education Trust. I also work as tastings assistant for the World of Fine Wine magazine – if you want a high-end wine read, get the Fine Wine mag. They are seriously good!
As I mentioned above, my main interest is in kosher and Israeli wines. This will be the real unique feature of my site since there aren’t that many people out there who write about this niche market.
In the summer of 2012 I spent ten weeks working at Seahorse, a small boutique winery in the Judaean Hills in Israel, and so I had a chance to gain first-hand knowledge of what it means to make wine. It was tremendous fun! But more about that later.
The Rav Gedalia Nadel who had very advanced ideas about biological evolution had earned his living by selling wine in Bne Braq. Wine not you ?
And Rashi was a vintner!
